Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of LogDate — the app, the website, and any cloud services we operate. Read them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. Your agreement with us

LogDate is operated by Hypertext Studio (“we,” “us”). By installing the app, visiting logdate.app, or signing into a LogDate account, you agree to these terms and the companion Privacy Policy.

If you use LogDate on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction (at least 13 years old, or 16 in applicable EEA countries). If you cannot, do not create a LogDate account.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the credentials you register with LogDate — the passkeys bound to your device, the Google account you link, or the email you verify. Treat them as you would a house key.

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. Deletion permanently removes your entries, journals, media, backups, and passkey records, and we do not retain backups of the deleted data.

4. Your content

Everything you write, capture, or upload in LogDate remains yours. We claim no ownership of your entries or media.

You grant us a limited licence to store, encrypt, transmit, and display your content only as needed to operate the service for you. That licence ends when your content leaves our service, either because you deleted it or because you deleted your account.

If you use features that explicitly share content with other people (shared journals, invite links), you authorize us to make the content accessible to the recipients you choose.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use LogDate to:

  • Upload content you do not have the right to store, share, or distribute.
  • Harass, stalk, exploit, or endanger any person, including using shared journals or invite flows as a vector.
  • Attempt to probe, scan, or bypass the authentication, entitlement, or rate-limiting mechanisms of the cloud service.
  • Automate access in ways that materially degrade service for other users.
  • Store content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or ours (US).

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with notice when reasonably possible.

6. Subscriptions and billing

LogDate offers paid subscriptions. You can subscribe through Google Play Billing (on Android) or through our first-party web checkout (powered by Stripe). Pricing is shown at the point of sale and in the app.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in the store that sold them to you (Google Play for Play subscriptions; your account page for Stripe subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds follow the policy of the platform that processed the payment.

If your subscription lapses, your existing data stays intact but features gated to the paid tier become unavailable until you resubscribe.

7. Self-hosting

You may run the open-source LogDate server on your own infrastructure under its licence. These terms do not apply to a server you operate — they govern only the service we operate and the clients we distribute. A self-hosted instance is your responsibility to secure, back up, and keep compliant.

8. Changes to the service

LogDate is under active development. Features may be added, changed, or retired. We will not delete your content without your action, and we will warn before retiring a feature people actively use.

9. Disclaimers

LogDate is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Keep your own backup if uptime matters to you — the export feature exists for exactly this reason.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LogDate and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$100, whichever is greater.

11. Termination

You can stop using LogDate at any time. We can terminate or suspend your access to the cloud service if you violate these terms or if providing service to you creates legal risk for us, with notice when we reasonably can. Sections intended to survive termination — content ownership, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law — do.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflicts of law principles. Disputes will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts of San Francisco County, California, and both parties consent to that jurisdiction.

13. Contact
